Career exploration
A year-round internship where high school and college students learn how nonprofit work happens by planning events, leading civic projects, and supporting WELO from the inside.
How it works
We Turn Ship gives students firsthand exposure to the inner workings of a nonprofit organization. Interns help plan events, support special projects, take part in civic engagement activities, and learn how community programs move from idea to execution.
The goal is not busywork. The goal is to help young people practice teamwork, communication, accountability, and leadership while giving back to their own communities.
Interns support the details that make clinics, community days, and youth activities feel organized and welcoming.
Students help lead mentoring and civic engagement activities that connect service, responsibility, and community pride.
The internship builds teamwork, project management, follow-through, communication, and confidence.
